Welcome to Berkeley Preparatory, a boarding school in California that strives for the best. The school was originally opened as an all-boys school in 1887, but converted to co-ed in 1999 when application levels lowered. We promise to help your child succeed in everything they do, no matter what it is. Our range of qualified teachers and professors means that your child always has someone to talk to, whether it be a bit of homework that's bothering them or someone who isn't being too nice- we do not tolerate bullying. Thank you for supporting our school and we hope to see your child next semester!
One of the two main subjects taught at Berkeley is technology. There are four large technology rooms for each sub-subject of technology, three of which have saws, soldering irons and whatnot lined against the walls and the other set out like a modernised industrial kitchen. There are three English classrooms, three maths classrooms, several languages classrooms- one for French; one for Spanish; two for languages such as Korean, Chinese, etc., four science labs, two gym changing rooms equipped with showers and a sports hall, an all-weather pitch with running tracks, two geography classrooms, two history classrooms and one large IT room for computing lessons and study during school hours.
The student dorm circle is a street-like circle a few minutes away from the school buildings with four houses plotted along it. The houses are named Titus, Ignitus, Philos and Lexus. In each house, there are three dorm floors and a basement. The basement is a large, empty space. The ground floor is where the main kitchen and some pool tables lie, including some couches in order for boarders of that house to sit and talk. The ground floor is quite open with windows, and and at the far right there is a staircase that leads to the first floor. Each floor has a small hall in order for people to use the staircase to the upper and lower floors and a single door along the long wall of the corridor. The only people with keys to this door are the house leaders and the boarders of that floor. Inside each room is five bedrooms, a smaller kitchen, a dining room, a study room with bean bags and plug sockets and a main room with a television and a couch. Each bedroom has a small ensuite with a shower, toilet and sink, but if you want a bath you'll have to use the main bathroom. Dorm rooms are subject to inspection at any point in time, but you are free to decorate with posters, pictures and such. If you are returning to Berkeley after school breaks, you may leave any belongings you want in your dorm room as you will remain in the same room until you leave.
