Cheung walked into history class, his first lesson of the day, with his phone to his ear, cussing rapidly in Mandarin as the volume of his voice shot up. He argued with his mother every single day, and even though he longed to visit China again he really did not want to stay in the same house as her for longer than four hours. He just didn't think he could do it anymore.
He took a seat in the middle of the classroom, telling his mother he was done with her and hanging up. He flicked his phone to silent and slid it into his pocket.

Yujin felt a bit awkward walking into class, having been moved up to the Junior history class after his teacher complained that Sophomore histroy was too easy for him. And it was true- Yujin was really good at history. He looked down at his phone, sending his cousin a text asking if he'd be at the inter-school sports day in a few weeks. His cousin, Jae, was actually Korean, and had only moved to America a couple of years before. Yujin had heard that he was going to come to Berkeley with him, but chose Mason because of the sporting facilities. Yujin had only been to Korea once, and really wanted to know what it was like- he was the only one in his family who hadn't lived there.
Yujin took a seat near the back corner, looking over at a Chinese boy as he ended what sounded like a heated phone conversation and biting his lip.
