Seok smiled back at Joonyeong and left his room, leaving the door slightly ajar. He walked across the dorm to his own room and slammed the door, collapsing onto his bed and not even bothering to put his headphones in as he usually did. He put his electric items on the desk on his bedside and snuggled into his pillow, yawning and dropping off.

By the time Seok had started to drop off, Sehun was already fast asleep, cuddled up in the many fluffy blankets he'd brought from home. He'd unpacked whilst Seok had, and fell asleep in the time he'd been helping Joonyeong. He was truly tired from the journey here.

Cheung had practically mimicked what Sehun and Seok had done, but instead of going to sleep he sat in the main room watching old episodes of Happy Camp from 2008. The episode reminded him of when the Wenchuan earthquake happened- Happy Camp had been off the week after the episode he was watching. He was only around 10 years old, but he remembered it well- even buildings in his hometown, Shanghai, had shook with the force of the quake.
He felt a bit awkward that he was the only Chinese in the apartment- the rest were Koreans, and he guessed he'd be learning lots of Korean in his time here. He was at least comforted by the fact that he wouldn't get teased about where he was from. He returned from his thoughts, having daydreamed whilst Jackie Chan had done something, and focused on the programme he was watching.

- That Evening -
As it was a Friday evening, and as everyone had been given the day off from classes because it was the mid-year transfer day where all the new students arrived, Kyung-Joo had had the entire day to himself to plan what to cook. He'd taken one of the ready meals out of the cupboard and warmed it up for his lunch, but Friday was his day to cook- at the weekends, he and Joonyeong actually made their own food. He stood in the kitchen, throwing random ingredients he'd found around the cupboards into a large frying pan to make a japchae that really did reflect his youth.
Now, he didn't really know if Cheung had ever eaten japchae, although he knew many Korean restaurants in China served it, but he was almost certain that the other boys had, and so wasn't too worried about what he was making. He'd laid plastic chopsticks out on the main table, the crappy kind that the school had to provide because metal ones were too expensive and wooden ones snapped. He hadn't disturbed anyone all day, as he knew Joonyeong was studying, and Cheung was watching something in Chinese, and the others were probably fast asleep after their journey, but he hoped the scent of the food brought them to the dining room.

Seok woke up to the smell of japchae, his favourite meal that his mom made and one of his favourite foods in general. He loved western food, but the fact that someone was making food native to his- well, their, as 4 out of 5 in his dorm were Korean- country was a real bonus on his first day here. He shook himself awake, combed through his hair and slid his phone into his pocket before navigating his way to the kitchen, smiling as he saw it was Kyung-Joo cooking.
"Japchae?" He asked, looking at the large pan with many different foods in it.

Kyung-Joo looked up for a second, smiling warmly at Seok and nodding gently.
"Yeah, I wanted you to feel at home on your first night." He said, looking back at the pan and stirring everything around a bit. It was ready to go in everyone's bowls, and so he turned the hob off, lifting up the pan and pouring equal portions of food into each one and putting the pan back down. He took three and looked at Seok.
"Can you get those two?"

Joonyeong had finished his history essay a couple hours after Seok had left to sleep and had plugged his headphones into his laptop, listening to music as he just internetted as any American teenager did- he'd picked up habits like this at Berkeley. Of course, he'd used the internet quite a bit in Korea, but not nearly as much as he did here.
When he smelled the air, he instantly paused his music and slid his laptop onto his desk, smiling to himself. Kyung-Joo's signature dish- Japchae. He made his way through the halls of the house, hearing the familiar voice of Kyung-Joo and surprisingly Seok.

Seok nodded, smiling and taking the two dishes into the dining room. He placed them by the chopsticks, and stood back to admire Kyung-Joo's work. It reminded him a bit of home, without the various side dishes that his mother usually prepared. Thinking of that, though, Seok realised that he really didn't miss home.

Joonyeong walked into the dining room and looked over at Seok, smiling. He knew it was probably a little weird for the first night with them.
"Wow." He says, taking a seat around the table.

Seok watches and Joonyeong sits down and chooses the chair next to his. Joonyeong was the one he knew best out of his new dormmates- of course, he knew Sehun better, but he wasn't exactly new to him.

~ new day ~
It was 9:30pm and Seok had already walked around the dorm twice to check everyone was in their rooms whilst waiting for Joonyeong. He stood at the door with his phone in his hand, his platform-sneakered feet tapping the floor gently and he leant against the wall. He wondered how long Joonyeong was gonna take as he scrolled through his notifications.

Joonyeong pulled his jacket over his shoulders, leaving it unzipped and looking at his reflection in the mirror. He ran a hand through his hair before tiptoeing through the dorm room, hoping that Seok had made sure all doors were closed before he did so, and pulled his shoes on when he reached the shoe rack by the door. He gave Seok a quiet nod and opened the door, tapping his jeans back pocket to make sure that his phone was there before stepping out into the hall.
The only way he and Seok could make it out of the house was to climb through the window in the hall, which Joonyeong had purposely left unlocked earlier when he was asked to go to each floor and lock them, and so he made his way silently down the hall and pushed it open slightly. It was a single flight of stairs worth of a jump, but it was their only way out, and he'd done this many times now. Besides, the grass below was soft enough to cushion their fall.
Joonyeong placed himself on the window ledge and looked back at the hall for a second before pushing away from the window frame, falling quickly for a few seconds until his toes hit the ground, followed by the rest of his body. It took him a good thirty seconds to recover from the fall- his legs tingled- but he moved out of the way so that Seok had a clear run at it.

Seok watched as Joonyeong walked past him and closed the door to their dorm room quietly, putting his phone in his jacket pocket and following Joonyeong to the window. He didn't really like doing risky things, such as jumping out of windows, or even going on rollercoasters, but everyone had to face their fears and now was a better time than ever. He poked his head out of the window to see where Joonyeong was, and upon spotting him out of the landing area threw his legs over the window ledge.
He took a deep breath and closed his eyes, nodding to himself after a few seconds and pushing his fingertips against the wall slightly, forcing his body out of the window. The wind blew against his face for the split second he was falling, and his hands started to shake as his side hit the soft grass. He stayed there for quite a few moments, until his hands stopped shaking and he could push himself up. He turned his head to face Joonyeong and gave him a little smile to indicate that they could go now. They still weren't safe to make any noise yet- they had yet to actually sneak off of the campus.
I mean, getting out of the Ignitus house was probably the easiest bit about it all.
